Don’t you hate it when you try use your towel to get changed and suddenly your bits have slipped in the parking lot? Same. Which is why ponchos are such a vibe. Not only are they comfy and warm, they provide a portable changing room that protects you – and any onlookers – from unscathed nudity. Shop our cotton Panda Poncho online here.
3. Surf Map
It’s a bucket list… but for surfers. How good! We love surf trip maps as a gift because they provide a slice of inspiration and adventure. This cartoon-like map from Underground Surf is colourful and fun, plus it has a whiteboard coating for easy drawing and erasing.
4. Wet/Dry Backpack
It’s the accessory you didn’t know you needed… until you got it. There are heaps of simple bags out there to carry your soaking wetsuit, or there are more complex bags with all the bells and whistles.
For a quick little surf sesh or a day trip down south, we recommend the eco-friendly VISSLA 7 Seas XL 35L Dry Backpack for keeping that wet gear contained, or keeping your dry gear from getting wet. Plus, you know we’re a sucker for anything sustainably made.
For those Indo escapades and beyond, we recommend the Rip Curl F-Light Surf Backpack because of its waterproof roll top compartment (which is the perfect place to stuff your wetsuit), the EVA front panel that is designed to protect any tech gear, and all the extra pockets for your zinc, wax, fins, rope and more.
5. Towel
We’re super into round towels, because who wants to fit in a square? The Starboard Round Towel by The Beach People is super trendy and warm after that early morning surf. Inspired by the golden age in the South of France, the towel is double-sided with a navy base featuring white lines and golden sunset tones.
6. Books
Fifty Places to Surf Before You Die by Chris Santella is a beautifully illustrated guide to the most thrilling surfing destinations in the world. Covering quintessential beaches such as Oahu's North Shore; Australia's Gold Coast; and of course, Malibu, California, the book also invites you to discover such unexpected gems as the Amazon and the Gulf of Alaska. A coffee table staple for the inspiration and imagery.
7. Flippers
For the bodysurfers out there, the right pair of fins will help you to get to get some extra speed to catch that wave and ride it all the way in. We recommend DaFins – Bodysurfing Swim Fins as they are lightweight, super comfortable, they float so you’ll never lose them, and they were designed by Andy Cochran, one of Australia’s early surfing pioneers.
8. S’well Water Bottle
Aesthetic, functional and insulated, S’well water bottles keep drinks cold for 48 hours or hot for 24, perfect for that morning cuppa or that post-surf thirst. It’s also a great option to replace your single use plastic water bottle as it is sustainably made and eco-friendly.
9. Reef Booties
To protect your toes from the cold and your feet from the reef, we think O’Neill’s Heat Split Toe 3mm Wetsuit Boot. The 3mm boot has split toe and an anti-flush shin strap. Glued and blind stiched 100% FluidFlex Neoprene round this epic boot out.
